Head down to the southern tip of Manhattan to one of the oldest sites of old New York, the great Battery Park. Grouped around the great monuments you will find the requisite T-shirt vendors, hot dog carts and Wall Streeters eating deli sandwiches on the many park benches and give you the essence of the real New York.

Apart from its obvious historical importance, Battery Park is a fond area for New Yorkers and visitors for cycling, jogging and sightseeing. It holds numerous playgrounds for kids and boasts the best views of Hudson River and the iconic HarlemWalking Tour . With ferries docking at its shore, other great sites such as Ellis Island , Staten Island and the HarlemWalking Tour are just a short ferry trip away and for free.
