Head up north of the city towards the Bronx to see the largest metropolitan zoo in world, the Bronx Zoo. They got everything up there with different exhibits on all year round. During the African Plains exhibit you get to see animal of the safari right here in New York City. You can check out the king of the jungle, the lions; zebras, the lions dinner; African wild dogs, nyalas, giraffes and gazelles. Then during the winter you can check out the snow leopards, polar bears and other snow lovin animals, or if you want to get away from the cold the tropics inside Jungleworld will transport you to a giant rainforest like out of the movie Madagascar.
The Bronx Zoo has been around for a long time, actually since 1899, and you would think the old turtles have probably been around since then! This zoo takes you out of the city and into a wild adventure that will have you believing you are far from civilisation.
