When you arrive at the fifth avenue entrance Bobby the Solider will greet you and is always more than happy to take a picture with the excited kids or the excited inner child of adults. Welcome to FAO Schwarz, a giant toy store that has been enchanting children and adults like with its unequal collection of toys and variety of fun childrens products for more than 150 years. It is one of the most renowned stores in the world and the oldest operating toy retailer in North America. Visitors line up daily to get inside and see the vast assortment of toys, gifts and collectables while somehow trying to stick to a budget!
It was first conceived and named after Fredrick August Otto Schwarz when he opened his Toy Bazaar in New York City in 1870. And since then it has been bringing joy to the hearts of many children, and driving them crazy with excitement, you should see the place at Christmas! Boys will love the really cool and amazing amount of Lego and their Star Wars collection while girls will go crazy for their whole section dedicated to Barbie, parents beware. You may also come across a giant floor piano, look familiar? Thats because it was made famous by Tom Hanks in the movie Big where he, Josh Baskin, impressively played chopsticks and Heart and Soul, dont expect to be just as good, he is an actor with a lot of training. There are puppets and board games to be found in abundance, if you head over to the Whatnot Workshop you can even create your own Muppet, is there ever an end to the fun? No there is not, because not just that but you can fill up on M&Ms where the store stocks every colour of the rainbow, toothaches are going to happen! Then you can ride up the robot elevator to the second floor, his name of course is GO-2-FLOOR-2, where even more amazing toys can be seen.

It is located right on fifth Avenue so you can experience the best shopping district in the city, with the likes of Bloomingdales and Tiffany & Co nearby, spending budgets will be compromised.
