A symbol of hope and a shelter from the worst disaster to ever hit New York City. During the mayhem of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre, many helpless victims fled to Saint Pauls Chapel to get shelter from the debris and smoke that filled Manhattan on that dreadful day. It also served as a place of rest and refuge to many of the recovery workers that helped in the aftermath of the attacks. It is the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan and was built on land granted by Queen Anne of England in the late 1600s, and it also has one of the oldest cemeteries in Manhattan with gravestones reaching back to the same time of its initiation, it is also known that George Washington worshipped here on the day of his inauguration in 1789.

Wow, there is so much history and heritage to experience here at this little church. The church is small, quaint and peaceful and very beautiful. Visitors can attend normal Sunday service and look around at the many memorial banners and mementos of families of 9/11 victims. It is a hugely popular tourist attraction and there are numerous exhibits to keep anyone intrigued, bring tissues because it is emotional.

A simple and graceful building, the Chapel is a symbol of the heroism and resilience of the people of this great city. When called on to give their time they were not found wanting and Saint Pauls will forever be a reminder of the strength of character of this citys people and of the lives of those that were lost.
