Make the journey to north Manhattan and you will not be disappointed. The Cloisters Museum and Gardens are an ideal way to spend the afternoon in a peaceful environment. Located right next to Fort Tryon Park , this branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is devoted to art and architecture of medieval European times that include sculptors, manuscripts, priceless art and beautiful stain glass windows. Outside and located around the museum are the museum gardens and these, in themselves, are also beautiful works of art that relate to those historic European times.

There are thousands of works of art held here, dating from the ninth to the sixteenth century in a time well before the discovery of America. It is a bit of a trek up here to this side of the city but what you experience is totally worth it, not to mention the views of the Hudson River that will rest your mind from the hustle and bustle of the city to the south. A visit here can be enjoyed thoroughly with many of the guided tours of the collections and the gardens and after you can take a time out in the Trie Cafe where the coffee is sure to put you in a good mood.

Outside and around the museum is where the area comes to life under the hot sun. The structure includes multiple medieval style herb gardens and great views. Within these beautiful gardens are many different species of plant that were grown in the middle ages in Europe like flowers, medicinal and herbs. It is a marvellous sight to see in one of the busiest cities in the world and one would definitely not expect this array of beauty. If you are sick of the music of todays generation then have a listen to the medieval concerts that play here regularly, not exactly Beyonce or Rihanna but it is great fun in theme with the museum.

The Cloisters Museum and Gardens are not a must see attraction of New York but the sure make any visit to New York complete. While venturing north of Manhattan you may want to catch a home run ball at the famous Yankee Stadium or pet cute animals at the Bronx Zoo .

The north side of the city is just a few minutes of a trip to the heart of Manhattan near Times Square and Central Park , stay in a hotel that gives use the best taste of the Big Apple like Jumeirah Essex house , Hilton New York and the Wellington Hotel . .
